  TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign   Language)

   The TOEFL test evaluates the English proficiency of people who    are non native English speakers. It measures their ability to           use and understand the standard American English when spoken,   heard and   written in Academic settings such as universities and   colleges.  Furthermore TOEFL scores are used government   certification   agencies and scholarship programs. TOEFL scores   are   required for admission to many educational institutions and   universities   in the USA and Canada. This is conducted by ETS
  (Educational Testing Service) worldwide. This was first started
  in 1964 The TOEFL test can be taken in different formats.
  That mainly depends on the candidate’s location. The following
  formats are available

  Paper Based test (PBT),
  Internet Based Test (iBT)

  Paper Based Test has 4 sections.

  Listening (30-40 minutes)
  This contains questions about short and long conversations.

  Structure & Written expression (25 minutes)
  In this section, the candidate should complete sentences correctly
  and identifying errors.

  Reading comprehension (50 minutes)
  Questions about reading passages

  Writing (30 minutes)
  The candidate should write an essay

 

  Internet Based Test also has 4 sections

  Reading    (60 minutes)
  Listening  (50 minutes)
  Speaking  (20 minutes)
  Writing    (55 minutes)
